My name is Heather Vereyken. I have been a proud Grizzly for the past 16 years! I graduated from Greensboro College in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Elementary Education and from Liberty University in 2017 with my Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision. I began my teaching career at Clover Garden in 2009 and haven't left since! Clover Garden is my "home away from home". In 2014-2015, I received the "Teacher of the Year Award" from Clover Garden and in 2020-2021, I was a finalist for the North Carolina Charter One Principal of the Year Award.

I got into teaching for the love of learning new things! I enjoy working each day with our fantastic faculty/staff and amazing students. Mentoring and providing support to the educators in the building is one of the most pivotal pieces to what it takes to be a strong leader. I take pride in the fact that we have a large waiting list of students that want to be a part of the amazing things taking place at CGS! We also have the county’s reigning title for the Times News Reader’s Choice Award for Best Charter School in Alamance County 6 years running! Clover Garden has made great strides and progress over the past 20 years and I intend to keep that pattern going. With exciting things in our future such as an expansion and a new campus being built just around the corner in a few years, CGS is definitely growing and succeeding! CGS has the best students and the best staff! #CGSISBETTERTHANBEST

In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach with my fantastic husband and wonderful son and daughter. My favorite television channel is the Hallmark Channel. I love watching new Hallmark movies...even if I can probably guess how it's going to end! I also enjoy playing volleyball, basketball and playing charades with my family. I’m an avid Duke Men’s Basketball Fan and enjoy watching them play, especially against UNC! My husband is a diehard UNC fan so Duke/UNC basketball games always prove to be an exciting evening at our house!

"There is more to life than being a passenger," -Amelia Earhart. This quote inspires me because you can't spend your life just "going with the flow", you must work to "stand out" in order to "make a difference". You have to "think outside the box". This doesn't happen by being complacent! There is always room to grow, room for improvement, and room for needed changes! Reward only comes with hard work!
