Today we honor another ‘lifetime’ Grizzly,’ Ashton Petty. He has been a Grizzly for thirteen years and is part of a Grizzly family. His older brothers are also CGS graduates. Ashton is known for his sense of humor, easygoing attitude, and awesome hair. We wish him well as he graduates.

What clubs and organizations have you participated in as a Grizzly?

As a Grizzly, I participated in Beta Club, FCA, Marching Band, and served as a mentor for the Highschool Mentorship Program.

Once you graduate high school, what is your college/career plan?

I plan on attending GTCC for Mechatronics Engineering. My goals after college are to make a steady living and to enjoy life through what I do.

Can you tell us about an experience or project in a class that impacted you and explain why it did?

During my time in marching band, I spent a lot of time with some of my now close friends at competitions, and it has even led me into a relationship with one of my closest friends. It also led me to a relationship with Christ which I am so thankful for every day.

Have you held any leadership roles on or off campus?

Aiding with ministry outreach in Asheville, NC, I am on the path to becoming a junior mentor at the PLS Life School in Reidsville.

What obstacles have you overcome during high school that has prepared you for the future?

Definitely dealing with the unknown and even spiritual. Covid absolutely rocked everyone’s world, and during that time, I found Christ, and I’ve been walking strong with him by my side.

How would people describe you? How do you describe yourself?

People would describe me as dedicated, funny, and enjoyable to be around.
