Today we turn the Senior Spotlight to Brandon McNeilly. Brandon has been a Grizzly for the past ten years. During that time, he has participated in on and off-campus opportunities. In addition to being a student, Brandon volunteers with his church and works as a lifeguard. We are excited to see what the future hold for this young man.

What clubs and organizations have you participated in as a Grizzly?

  • AB honor roll
  • Beta Club
  • FCA
  • Spanish Club
  • Marching Band

Can you tell us about an experience or project in a class that impacted you and explain why it did?

In my Public Speaking class last year, I remember going into the class worried about how well I will be able to speak to everyone because I have always needed to improve when speaking in public. As the year went on, I kept getting more comfortable in front of everyone. The class benefited me and my ability to talk in front of others.

What obstacles have you overcome during high school that has prepared you for the future?

Honestly, I have not really overcome anything in my high school career. Something that I found difficult was pushing my way to the top of basketball to play at a higher level. And learning to play an instrument and march at the same time. Those were a few difficult things.

Once you graduate high school, what is your college/career plan?

I plan on finishing my associates at Alamance Community College and then using my transfer credits to get into Western Carolina University. While there, I plan to major in Physical Therapy and minor in Exercise Science. After finishing my degree, I hope to enter the school of Physical Therapy, where I will finish my degree work and find a job after all the schooling. If I can become good enough, it would be enjoyable to be a part of a sports organization, being one of their team PTs.
