Mrs. Nall’s seventh grade science students concluded their Force and Motion Unit with a Sphero Bolt Robot challenge. Students were asked to move a 10-gram weight a distance of one meter using a Sphero. Students used materials to design and build a structure that allowed the Sphero to push or pull the weight while allowing for factors such as friction, direction, and gravity. They quickly found that mass also played a huge part in the process. It was fun to watch the unbalanced forces at work.

This lab experiment helped students apply their textbook knowledge and apply it in a real world way. You can tell by the look on the student’s faces that this lesson was enjoyable for everyone!
