Once you graduate high school, what is your college/career plan?

I wish to attend either Elon College or UNC Chapel Hill and study mathematics and secondary education. I plan on getting at least one degree from one of those colleges and continuing my education even further after graduating.

Can you tell us about an experience or project in a class that impacted you and explain why it did?

In one of my online courses during my junior year, I noticed I had a mutual acquaintance in that class, and I wanted to reach out and help them if they needed it. That help has progressed into one of the closest friendships I’ve ever formed and allowed me to create a bond with someone I’d never talked to. This person continues to change my view of the world positively and allowed me to see a new perspective of the world.

Have you held any leadership roles on campus?

In many clubs and groups, I have either run for or have been elected to a Treasurer position. This placed me in a very important position in general that allows me to fully understand what goes on in those clubs and be able to provide my input into the functioning of the group for the betterment of said group.

What obstacles have you overcome during high school that has prepared you for the future?

My mother’s illness and the journey I embarked on that has shaped my entire assessment of the entire world and has taught me how to become an independent and strong person that can overcome anything thrown at me. When she became ill, I was the only one able to support her and became her confidant in her times of need. Balancing school, friendships, and other life barriers was hard, but life worked out in my favor. This experience entirely solidified my future as a person who can be self-reliant and empathetic.

How would people describe you? How do you describe yourself?

From what I can tell, I’d be called chaotic yet flamboyant. I think this fits me excruciatingly well. I also consider myself to be nerdy and go well above what is considered normal, which seems to be a consensus for everyone around me as well. I finally consider myself empathetic, loving, and cheerful with undertones of humility and gentleness. My life experiences have caused me to have a grand gentleness and love for anyone who is around me.
