Time is flying by during the month of August! There are only two short weeks left until our first academic break. Please make sure that your student is continuing to focus on their academics and that they are reaching out to their teacher for assistance. Tutoring will begin after we return from our Academic Break. We will be working on compiling a schedule for you to refer to and sending that out soon. In the meantime, please reach out to your child’s teacher for questions/concerns regarding your student’s progress. Progress reports go out in two weeks. This is a great time to reflect and see how your student is doing.

Thank you for your patience as we updated PowerSchool settings for Clover Garden School. You may see potential issues as PowerSchool has been down for emergency maintenance lately as many other schools are now going back to school. We hope that this will not cause any issues but we will keep you updated as they are working out bugs in their system. Please remember that the PowerSchool Parent Portal is only one way to review your student’s progress. You can also review their progress through Canvas for MS/HS students. If you have trouble logging into PS, please email our registrar at ninamiller@cgsnc.org to reset your password.

Covid-19:

  • Everyone thought our year would be more normal this year and we hope that will continue to be the case. We just want to make sure that we remind everyone of the significance that this virus still has on our county and in our community. Alamance County currently has 20,000+ positive cases of Covid-19 within the last 14 days and continues to rise. You can find a link to this information on our school’s website at the top of the homepage.  Please be diligent in your safety measures. Our current mitigations haven’t changed drastically but we will need to be prepared for changes back to similar requirements from last year if things do not improve.
  • Universal mask wearing is still a REQUIREMENT in our school building indoors at all times (unless eating or drinking). This will be a challenge and a frustration at times but our CGS community MUST follow this directive in order for our students to continue coming on campus for in-person learning. This policy will be revisited at the end of the quarter per your feedback on the Covid-19 mitigation survey that we sent out. You can find the results of the survey on our school’s website on the Board of Directors’ page under last Tuesday’s meeting agenda. It’s in a PowerPoint document. Universal masking is not the popular choice among our CGS families but it’s the safest option for our kids at this time until the 71% of our student population have the opportunity to get vaccinated.
  • If your student is sent home to be quarantined after being identified as a close-contact, your quarantine dates received from the NCDHHS may differ slightly from Clover Garden School’s. CGS’ school policy can be more stringent than the guidelines from outside sources. CGS will continue implementing close contact quarantine of 14 days beginning after the positive test date for the remainder of the 21-22 school year. Quarantine is still identified as 14 days per the ACHD guidance. This continued protocol has minimized the additional exposure and positive cases within our school.
  • Thank you for your diligence, time, effort, and support. We are doing everything in our power to protect our faculty/staff and students at Clover Garden School in the middle of this on-going pandemic. As a reminder, if you are feeling unwell, please do not risk sending your student to campus without first talking to Mrs. Cox, our Covid-19 coordinator at jennifercox@cgsnc.org. Mrs. Cox will give you guidance on the Covid-19 procedures. If you know of a positive case of Covid-19, please contact Mrs. Cox immediately. Fast response and action must occur in order for us to remove any students that would be potentially at risk for spreading Covid-19 either as a positive case or as a close contact.
  • Please ensure that your student is wearing their face mask appropriately and consistently at all times (unless eating or drinking).

Symptoms of Covid-19:

  • Please make sure you are mindful of your student’s overall health before sending them to school. If your child exhibits any of the signs of Covid-19, please do not send them to school. Symptoms include but are not limited to:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • (This list does not include all possible symptoms.)

Attendance:

  • We are still in the midst of our first 20 days of school at CGS .Thank you to those of you that are ensuring that your student is at school on time and ready to learn daily. Students should be on campus EVERYDAY unless they are not feeling well.

Testing Calendar:

  • Please see the attached testing calendar for this school year.

Student Drivers:

  • Please park in your designated parking space. Not parking in your designated space could result in towing of vehicles and/or removing of parking privileges on campus. Many of our students are not having issues with following this directive, but this is just a reminder for everyone. You also MUST not pull out into traffic until a staff member allows you to enter the car line. We allow for all of our students to exit at one time through the line together. We’ve cut our traffic down to 20-25 minutes in the afternoons and want to continue with this process.
