On April 2nd World Autism Awareness Day was celebrated. Clover Garden had to postpone our celebration due to academic break. We missed the ‘official’ celebration but that won’t stop us! We invite you to participate in the CGS Turns Blue for AU Event. On March 9th students and faculty are invited to dress in blue to support our autistic students and spread autism awareness.

According to Autism Speaks, “Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 54 children in the United States today.” Here at CGS we feel that it is our responsibility to support our Grizzlies with autism and raise awareness about the condition.

We hope that our community will participate in this event. There will be a Facebook blue out featuring photos of students dressed in blue, classroom discussions on what autism is, and specialized training for teachers.
