Tell us a little bit about you and your family.

My husband and I recently celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary but we have been together for seventeen years. We have two wonderful children, Taylor, our daughter who is five, and Benjamin, our son who is three. We love to spend time at the beach, hiking, swimming, and just being outside together. We have three pets an English Setter named Banks and two cats Toby and Callie.

Where did you attend college and what types of jobs have you held?

I attended UNCG for both my undergraduate and a graduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Biology. I lived with roommates in an apartment for all five years of college. My favorite collegiate memory would have to be the time I had just being with friends. The traditions we had like going to eat Mexican on Tuesdays, Teeter Thursday’s, and being able to watch the NCAA practice games when they came to town for free. I received my National Boards in 2016 and was named a Top Chemistry Teacher by the American Chemical Society in 2015.

What are your favorite hobbies, books, foods, places to vacation, etc?

I love to read, watch TV, hike, swim, go to the beach, and most importantly do all these things with my family.

What drives you as an educator?

My students. Having students write emails or send cards thanking me for the impact that I have had on them is enough to last a lifetime!

What is your best advice for students?

Don’t let one day, one assignment, one bad grade, one anything change who you are as a person. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t come close to changing your course in life.

Tell us what you think is important for all students?

I am a strong believer in a good work ethic. To gain anything in life you have to work hard to achieve it otherwise why do it at all. My Christian faith has proven time and time again that God always has a plan and though we may not see it on those bad days we have to Trust in Him that He will lead us in the right direction!
