We had a great and busy week last week on campus! Thank you to all of you that participated in our Trunk-or-Treat event! We had over 145 cars participate! That was amazing! It was so nice to see all of our CGS Grizzlies!! It truly put a smile on our faces to see all of our students and CGS families!! A special thank you to all of our faculty/staff who worked hard to put that event together for our families!

Here’s a quick glance at the week:

Wednesday, 11/4:

PreACT for 10th graders @ 8:00 A.M.

(See attached letter that was sent out previously)

Friday, 11/6:

Check-In Individual Student Report Distribution from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.

(If your child took a “Check-In”, they will have a report with how they scored so that you can review the areas of strength/weakness for your child. These reports are not for “grades”, the teachers use this data to drive their instruction and re-teach in areas that are needed for their students in their classrooms. Any reports not picked up on Friday, will have another opportunity on Monday and then will be mailed home.)

A few more reminders for this week that have been in previous Sunday messages, please see below.

Attendance:

Daily Attendance continues to be an issue at CGS during remote learning. STUDENTS MUST CHECK IN DAILY WITH THEIR HOMEROOM TEACHERS. This is not optional. This is part of our Clover Garden School attendance policy during remote learning. Students must contact their homeroom teacher via email, Canvas message, etc. Students will only be marked present for the day if the teacher has this email/message and proof that the student was working actively in Canvas that day. These are not our rules, but the state’s. Please help us enforce this at home with our students. It may be a cumbersome task but it should not be difficult. Attendance is vital for our school, especially since we are a charter school. It negatively impacts many things if our students aren’t accounted for. If you noticed absences on your student’s report card and you feel it is in error, you may reach out to our registrar, Mrs. Nina at (ninamiller@cgsnc.org) for assistance. You must be able to prove that your student was actively participating in instruction that day via Canvas in order to have the “absent” code reversed to reflect “present”.

 Emergency Forms:

A while back, we had you fill out your child’s “Emergency Forms” via Canvas. To date, we are still missing a handful of forms for our student records. We will be contacting you directly if we haven’t received your forms, but in the meantime, please double check and see if you submitted those forms. There were about 7 “Quizzes” you had to take so that you could “acknowledge/sign off” on understanding what the forms meant. Please click How to: Access and Answer Emergency Forms in Canvas for a “How-to” video on completing this process. Thank you to all of you that have done this already for each of your students! (This was due back in August, so if you’ve already completed this task, please disregard this message) Photo Release: This is one of the required forms. We must know if you do not want your child’s picture/photo shown this school year. Please email Mrs. Moore emilymoore@cgsnc.org directly if you do not give permission to share your student’s photo.
