Tell us a little bit about you and your family.

“I have been married for 15 years. I have a 12 year old daughter, Nikole, and a 7 year old son, Jake.”

Where did you attend college and what types of jobs have you held?

“Teaching is not my first profession. I worked with stockbrokers, health insurance, and as an accountant. Then I went back to school to become a teacher. I attended UNCG where I received a BS in Accounting, a BS in Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate. I then went back to UNCG and got a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. While I was in SC, I took some online classes to get my AIG certification.”

What are your favorite hobbies, books, foods, places to vacation, etc?

“I love fishing and playing softball. I also love to cook and bake. Nowadays, most of my free time is spent with my children. I love to go on vacation, so it really doesn’t matter where I go.”

What drives you as an educator?

“I want to be the best teacher I possibly can. I work hard to improve my teaching every day. With all that being said, the most important thing for me is that my students know that they are loved. My achievement that I am most proud of is that I was selected by my peers and my students as teacher of the year in two of the four districts that I have taught in.”

What is your best advice for students?

“We, teachers, are here to help you. We want to see you succeed. We are on your side. We believe in you.”
