Good morning,

Happy Sunday!

We hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend and are ready to begin “Week 2” of Remote/Distance Learning. All of you did a FANTASTIC job last week with helping your student(s) practice and get to know how to utilize Canvas. We know this was a challenging week for many but we greatly appreciate your perseverance and wiliness to learn how to use the Canvas platform and help your student be successful! None of us ever thought we’d be educating children during a pandemic, but by working together our students will be successful this school year! As a reminder, if you have any issues/concerns about Canvas, please email our Canvas Committee at canvasassistance@cgsnc.org. If you are having “technical” issues with computers or devices, please email our technical support team at techsupport@cgsnc.org

Today, PowerSchool will be down until 4:00 P.M. You will NOT be able to log into PowerSchool during this time as the program performs maintenance on the platform. Once PowerSchool is back up and running, please have your student(s) log into the program and look at their schedules for this school year. The only courses they should be able to see in Canvas are their courses for Semester 1 that are block courses or that are offered year-long as periods. This sounds confusing, but if your student logs into PowerSchool and clicks on My Schedule on the left hand side, they will be able to view their courses at a glance. If you notice that your student has a course in Canvas that they are not scheduled to begin until the Spring (Semester 2), please email Mrs. Nina at ninamiller@cgsnc.org. We are ironing out our system and making sure that there are no errors in student enrollment course placement. Thank you for helping us with this task. (Teachers are doing this as well as a backup, but more “eyes” reviewing it always helps!)

We’ve been given notice that the Canvas Parent App is now functional and working correctly. Please watch the video on the CGS Website Located HERE for instructions on how to access the app and how to utilize it.

There are NO extra-curricular activities taking place while we are operating in Plan C remote/distance learning. Here is some information regarding this decision.

  • The NCHSAA has issued an updated message August 28 on the status of fall sports and athletics. Please click on the link below to see this important message.

    https://www.nchsaa.org/news/2020-7-28/update-fall-sports-season-delayed-until-least-september-1

At this time for Clover Garden, all summer/fall extra-curricular activities and athletic practices/events will continue to be “on hold/cancelled” until we can move from remote learning to having students back in the building. We know this is very difficult on our student-athletes, coaches and parents to not have these opportunities right now.  Please continue to stay strong, communicate with each other and stay in  shape.  This will not last forever and we need to be prepared when we can begin again.  Student-athletes make sure you are working out, practicing your skills and keeping a schedule. These will help you, your teammates and coaches when we return to sports.

We will update you as we are given more guidance from the state, CGS Administration, and NCHSAA of when COVID-19 restrictions lift and we move forward. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

On Monday, August 3, 2020,  we will have another distribution of materials for students. If your student has any of the courses listed below, please make sure that you come by campus and pick up their materials. Please stay in your vehicle and we will bring the material out to you. Please enter from the Burch Bridge Road entrance and travel around the building to the front circle. We request that you wear your face mask while interacting with our faculty/staff and that you remain 6 feet apart to social distance. If you’ve been in contact with anyone that has tested positive for Covid-19 or if you have symptoms of Covid-19 yourself, please do not come on campus. Thank you for helping us keep our faculty/staff safe!

Students with last names A-M will need to pick up materials from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.Students with last names N-Z will need to pick up materials from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

If you do not have internet and were identified on the “no-internet” list, please be on the lookout for an email with instructions on how to obtain your student’s materials and how to complete and return them. This email will be going out to you today. You will have materials to pick up on campus Monday as well for your student(s).

A copy of the student schedules for Remote/Distance Learning are attached if you need to refer to them.

Lastly, Canvas Conferences will begin this week for some and for all beginning next week. Canvas Conferences are the meetings in which your student’s teacher(s) will be made available for instruction “live” for your student to join and ask questions, etc. about their assignments or instruction for the week. Your student’s teacher(s) will let them know what time their courses are scheduled for Canvas Conferencing. We will also be making this schedule available on our school’s website to refer to as well.
