Andy Hawkins

This afternoon we turn our Senior Spotlight to Andy Hawkins. Andy came to Clover Garden as a tenth-grader. Since becoming a Grizzly he has actively participated in Chorus, GSA, Poetry Club, Theatre, Art, Spanish Club, Geek Club, Photography, and the PALs Program.

After graduation, Andy plans to attend NC A&T where he will double major in Theater Technology and Culinary Arts. He recently moved into his first apartment and will be staying there with two other people while attending school and working full-time.

As Andy thought about what the legacy of the Class of 2020 will be he stated, “This whole virus thing. I’m very proud of us, and I think our legacy will be us standing up and rising to the new challenges brought to us from COVID-19.” We are also very proud of how you and your classmates have persevered and stayed positive through this trying time!

When asked what his favorite memory was from his time at Clover Garden Andy recalled, “My favorite CGS memory has to be my first ever day there. I was in 10th grade and was taking Spanish 2 with Mrs. Koehler. I was terrified and hadn’t made any friends yet, and was sitting alone in the corner of the room. One of my best friends to this day, A’Zane Troxler (who has since graduated), yelled “Hey you! In the back! Are you new here?” I, terrified because she literally SCREAMED at me and I was still used to that meaning I was in trouble (gotta love public school), freaked out. I walked over, and she immediately starts talking to me about anime. She was so kind, and really helped me get settled into my new school.” What an awesome memory!

After reflecting on all the people that have influenced his academic journey thus far Andy wanted to thank several people. He chose to shoutout, “A’Zane Troxler, Ezra Wilson, Ms. Peel, and Jocelyn Edge. Two of them have graduated, but all of them still continue to help me. A’Zane welcomed me to my new school, Ezra and I are best friends and he still continues to support me, even after graduating two years ago. Ms. Peel is my favorite teacher. She pushes me to do better every day, and I don’t think I would be doing so well in English without her. Jocelyn is one of my newer friends, as we only became friends during my senior year, but she supports me in ways I cannot imagine. She is super kind and funny, and though she doesn’t help me much academically, she does in life. I don’t think I would be the person I am today without her.”

Congratulations Andy we are glad you are a part of the Clover Garden family! As you embark on your time as an Aggie we are certain great things are in store for you.
