Amy Smith has been a Grizzly for the past four years. During that time, she has been an active member of our community. In addition to being a student, Amy works at Chick Fil A as a trainer and volunteers at Burlington Animal Services.

Once you graduate high school, what is your college/career plan?
I have been accepted to College of Charleston. I plan on double majoring in elementary education and psychology. Once I graduate, I want to teach elementary children.
Can you tell us about an experience or project in a class that impacted you and explain why it did?
When I took public speaking in 11th grade, I gave a speech on the importance of mental health. I have always known how important it is to talk about, but when I presented my speech, I could tell it had touched many people, including the teacher.
Have you held any leadership roles on campus?
I am a leader in our Mentorship Program. I am in charge of communications. This means that I make sure everyone is notified about meetings and projects we have going on around campus.
What obstacles have you overcome during high school that has prepared you for the future?
I had some mental health issues when I started high school, and I have gotten much better. During this time, I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I should not give up and can reach my goals if I try hard enough.
How would people describe you? How do you describe yourself?
People would describe me as smart, positive, and chill. I would describe myself as quiet and intelligent.
