We hope that everyone had a fantastic academic break and are ready to hit the ground running for Quarter 2 that begins this week. Report cards for Quarter 1 are scheduled to be distributed on Monday, Oct. 17th. Please use this as an opportunity to see how your student is progressing in their year long courses as well as in their block/semester courses. Parent/Teacher Conferences are on-going and can provide you with a fantastic opportunity to get updates specific to your student. I encourage you to participate in those opportunities as you are vital to your student’s academic success.
Don’t forget to check out our website at www.cgsnc.org and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cgsgrizzlies for updates!

Feedback Form FAQ 22-23

“Feedback Form” Submissions from week of 9/25:

My daughter in first grade says the bathroom doors don’t lock properly or at all. She has gotten walked in on while using the bathroom many times this school year. Can these be repaired please?

  • We will let our maintenance department know! For any maintenance that you see in and around campus, feel free to email our maintenance department at maintenance@cgsnc.org. Please put your name and student’s name on the email so we can reach out with specific questions/concerns regarding your submission. Thank you!

I noticed on the updated schedule for 5th grade – students do not have daily “recess” time. I see that there is PE daily but are they allowed any “free time” outside?

  • 5th grade has daily PE but not guaranteed recess daily. They are allowed to go outside and play if/when the schedule permits this. They have a recess time available but it is at the teachers’ discretion based on instruction for the day if they get the “free play” time. 5th grade has 3 EOG exams at the end of the school year so daily instructional time is protected as much as possible.

If you missed something or just need clarity on an event, etc. please fill out the form found here: https://forms.gle/L7oKFaRZUuiuh8JH7 This form will be monitored weekly and answers to frequently asked questions will be provided in the weekly Sunday message.

Drop off Procedures in the morning

REMINDER: Please do NOT drop your student off prior to 7:30 A.M. Even if it’s just a few minutes early. Dropping your student off on the porch and driving away is not allowed and is dangerous! Our staff are not available to supervise our students until 7:30 A.M. If your student is dropped off early, they will be required to attend before school and you’ll acquire a fee for before school care.

Your student must be dropped off and in their classrooms by 8:00 A.M. In the past, we’ve given a “cushion” of 5 minutes but we are losing valuable instructional minutes 1st period when we do this. Please leave your home early enough and safely enough to ensure your student is on time for school and inside their classroom when our 8:00 A.M. bell rings. Thank you for making your child’s education a TOP priority! You will be asked to sign in if your student is not on campus in enough time to make it to their classroom by 8:00 A.M. A copy of our tardy policy can be found in our Student/Parent Handbook on pages 13 & 14 if you’d like to reference it.

Thank you to all of you that travel on our campus safely, drive 5 mph or less, and don’t pass in our car rider lines! We greatly appreciate you and your dedication to the safety of our staff and students on campus!

Club Fundraiser (Jr. Civitan)

The Jr. Civitan Candle Fundraiser is kicking off beginning Oct 10th thru Oct 21st. Please see a Jr. Civitan for more information. Help support our community outreach events, education appreciation weeks, and much more! Checks will need to be made out to CGS PTT and cash is acceptable.
