I hope everyone has had a great start to the 2023-23 school year and are ready to begin our fall athletic programs! The coaches, parents and student-athletes are ready to begin. Please see the important information below.

First off I wanted to share some news with all of you.  Some of you are aware but others are not.  I have decided to step away as your CGS athletic director and return to the classroom at Chapel Hill High School to be a Health and PE Teacher. My last day at Clover Garden will be Friday, August 19. This was not any easy decision for me to step away from something I have been doing for 20 years. However, I am excited for this opportunity and looking forward to spending more time at home with my family. I am very grateful for the opportunity Clover Garden has given me over the past 4.5 years. I have enjoyed watching this athletic program grow tremendously. Thank you to the board of directors, our administration, coaches, parents, student-athletes and our faculty and staff for trusting me to push us to higher limits.  I feel confident that with the ground work we have paved together, that the new athletic director that will be appointed will continue to do great things.  There is a great future for our CGS student-athletes and I wish you all the best.  I look forward to coming back and watching CGS games!!

CGS ATHLETIC NEWS

CGS Color Run

The CGS Cross Country team is sponsoring a color run this coming September 10 at 9:00am. We would love to see our CGS Community participate and have some fun. You can get involved in a few different ways. 

Helpers – We are looking for 12-16 adults (faculty, staff, admin, parents, community members) to help man color stations, serve food, etc.  We would need help setting up before the start time, manning different tasks during the event, and of course cleaning up afterward.  This will be posted on Mobile Serve.

Participate – You can run or walk this event.  A registration form is attached.  We would love to see all our CGS families come out and enjoy the fun. Also, please share this event with your friends and family as we welcome anyone.

Sponsorships for the event are $150.  If you or a friend run a small or large business we would appreciate you considering this sponsorship opportunity.  Attached is a sponsorship form with all the details.

Helpers needed

Volunteers are needed at ALL home volleyball games. We will need a few volunteers each night there is a MS, JV or Varsity Volleyball home game to help with admissions table, concession stand and scoreboard. In order to volunteer we ask that you sign-up through Mobile Serve. These games will be posted on Mobile Serve on a weekly basis. Please register through the Mobile serve app or contact Coach Moyer with questions. I have attached the Brochure for directions on how to sign up.

Dragon Fly App/Website

This is a NEW program that the NCHSAA has switched to in order to keep a uniform location for all schools to hold coach and player eligibility and team schedules. This new program also gives coaches and athletic directors the ability to communicate with parents/students/teams. Dragon Fly will also digitize most required documents for athletes and coaches to participate in sports at CGS.

– For Coaches, parents and Athletes – Plan on playing a CGS sport this year? Make sure you get familiar with our new mandated online program. Please see the attached document and go to the web site  to help you understand the website and app as well as register.  Click on the parent courses as his will help guide you through how to sign up and navigate the app.  You will need to upload all mandatory forms that are required to be fill out. Once you register your son or daughter, I will need to accept the membership.

– For ALL CGS Grizzly Fans – ANYONE wanting game information who is interested in getting the CGS schedules can use CGS Dragon Fly website by using this web address  to view each teams schedule, coaches, rosters, purchase tickets and watch games remotely if schools have the NFHS Network.

– I am still learning the website myself so we will learn how to navigate the programs together.

FastMed Sports Physicals

From NCHSAA – If your students can’t secure an appointment with their primary care physician for a NCHSAA sports physical, FastMed is an option and gives a discount! Go to their web site and print out the coupon. The NCHSAA physical is attached for you to take with you. 

Very Important Dates Document

I have attached this form to give you ALL Important athletic dates for the entire 2022-23 school year separating out the fall, winter and spring seasons. This allows you to plan ahead and mark your calendars for mandatory meetings, season start dates, awards nights, etc. Please note the fall season dates as they will be here sooner than you realize.

CGS Coaching Positions Open

WE need your help! There are head and assistant coaching opportunities available for this coming year. We MUST fill these coaches position to have the teams.  If you or anyone you know would be interested in one of the following coaching positions, contact Coach Moyer ASAP as all our coaches need to be certified.

  • MS Girls Basketball Head/Assistant Coach – 1 coach needed
  • MS Boys Basketball Assistant Coach – 1 coach needed
  • MS Co-Ed Tennis Head Coach – 1 coach needed

CGS Athletic Booster Club Information and Updates

Athletic Booster Club Mission Statement: “CGS Athletic Booster Club Mission is to support the total development of our student-athletes so that they realize their full potential in athletics and in the classroom. We do this by promoting a positive culture and environment that gives our student-athletes, coaches, support staff, parents and wonderful volunteers the best possible opportunity to represent Clover Garden School in a way that promotes sportsmanship, team growth, athletic and academic excellence and school spirit.”

Athletic Booster Club August Meeting on Tuesday, August 9 @ 7:00pm @ CGS: The next CGS athletic booster club meeting will be on Tuesday, August 9 starting at 7:00pm at CGS in the Cafeteria.  

Athletic Booster Club Facebook Page: They now have a Facebook page to help with CGS athletic news.  Please visit and save this page to your Facebook!  You will see all updates and information on a regular basis.

Sponsorship Program They are looking for business to help with our sponsorship program to help support the CGS athletic department. They have updated the program from last year.  They are asking for the parents to help.  If you sell a sponsorship program, you will get to give 25% towards the sport of your choice. I attached the NEW sponsorship program document for you.
