SUMMER OPPORTUNITES/2022-23 Fall Sports Information

1. CGS Basketball Camp – The CGS basketball coaches are hosting a basketball camp this summer for rising 6th-9th graders the week of June 20-23. There are only 6 students signed up so far.  He would love to see more students attend. If interested please see the attached camp flyer and

2. HS Boys/Girls Basketball Workouts – Rising 9th-12th Graders ONLY –Coach Creech needs to find out how many 9th-12th grade boys/girls are interested before he sets up workout times or days. If interested in attending basketball open gym please contact Coach Creech via creecht23@aol.com or 336-212-0194.

*Any CGS student in grades 9-12 may attend these workouts. In order to attend these workouts you MUST have a current NCHSAA Athletic Physical before you can participate. Make sure you use the form that is attached. Please contact Coach Moyer if you have any questions about the forms or to see if you have current one on file.
*NCHSAA does mandate summer dead periods where NO work outs of any type are permitted. These dead periods take place on July 4-17.

5. FastMed Sports Physicals – From NCHSAA – If your students can’t secure an appointment with their primary care physician for a NCHSAA sports physical, FastMed is an option and gives a discount! Go to their web site and print out the coupon. The NCHSAA physical is attached for you to take with you. 

6.  Next Year – FALL Sports Intent to Try-Out Form – For rising 6th -12th Graders. We will continue to use the Intent to Try-out form. This has helped us gather important information from parents and student-athletes to inform them of upcoming mandatory events. If you are a rising 6th-12th grader and plan on trying out for a fall sport, you MUST fill this form out and send it back to Coach Moyer by Monday, July 18, 2022. This form may be completed via the google form listed here OR use the attached Fall Sports Intent to Try-out Form and turn it in to Coach Moyer via email (kellymoyer@cgsnc.org) in a PDF file, faxed (336-586-9477) or dropped off in the security office.

7. Very Important Dates Document – I have attached this form to give you ALL Important athletic dates for the entire 2022-23 school year separating out the fall, winter and spring seasons. This allows you to plan ahead and mark your calendars for mandatory meetings, season start dates, awards nights, etc. Please note the fall season dates as they will be here sooner than you realize.

8. CGS Coaching Positions Open – There will be Head and Assistant coaching opportunities for next year. If interested in one of the following contact Coach Moyer ASAP as there are classes you will have to take to be certified.

9. CGS March Athletic Booster Club Meeting on Wednesday, June 15 @ 8:00pm via Zoom– The next CGS athletic booster club meeting will be on Wednesday, June 15 starting at 8:00pm via Zoom.  Please email Coach Moyer at kellymoyer@cgsnc.org if you would like an invitation to the zoom meeting.

10. Booster Club Nominations – The Athletic Booster Club is taking applications to fill the Vice President spot beginning the 2022-23 school year.  Keith Roberts will be stepping down as the President year. His successor will be TE Saunders. Please email any of the officers if you are interested in this position NO latter than Wednesday, June 15. 

11. Booster Sponsorship Banners – the booster club has started a sponsorship banner program to work with local businesses. The business can have a banner hung in the gymnasium and/or the softball field fence. For more information go to our website. I have also attached the sponsorship program document for you. We will begin accepting New 2022-23 sponsorship banners in July. We would like to thank the following businesses that have sponsored us during the 2021-22 school year.
