Burlington, NC: Daughters of Battle of Alamance Chapter, NSDAR announce their Good Citizen Award winners as follows:

  • First place: Abigail Grace Kidd, Clover Garden School
  • Second place: Chelsea Jessica Frazilus, ABSS Early College @ ACC
  • Third place: Meghan Wilcox, River Mill Academy

In addition to the winners, the following were chosen by the Alamance County Schools to participate in the Good Citizen Award:  Annie Dang, Graham HS; Thomas Daniel Overby, Walter M Williams HS; Addison Lenee Wolfe, Western Alamance HS; Samantha Jane Walker, The Burlington School; Evelyn Grace Jacobs, Southern Alamance HS; Dillon Patrick Walker, The Hawbridge School; Joshua Gowl, Bradford Academy, Zachary Beck, Alamance Christian School; Dylan Mark Gum, Burlington Christian Academy; Jayna Moore, Hugh M. Cummings HS; Sidney Leann Beckham, Eastern Alamance HS. 

The Good Citizens award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.

  • This program is only open to high-school seniors whose schools are accredited by their state board of education.
  • Only one student per year may be honored as a school’s DAR Good Citizen.
  • United States citizenship is not required.
  • Additional rules and guidelines can be acquired by contacting your local DAR chapter.

Once a student is chosen as the DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay. Student participation in the scholarship portion of the program is optional.
