Some deadlines are approaching for student work to be turned in and completed as our Quarter 3 is quickly wrapping up! Please make sure that your student is completing their work and getting it turned in. Report Cards will go home on March 25th. Q3 ends on March 15th. Make sure your student checks in with his or her teacher in regards to “last date” to turn in missing work.

Covid-19:

We now have the 2nd week in a row with 0% Covid-19 cases. This is wonderful news! We are currently still in the “red” and considered “high” for community transmission according to the CDC’s Community Transmission Map, however, the positivity rate has dropped to 6.11% which is significantly lower than last week’s 10%.

Effective immediately, FACE MASKS will NO LONGER be required on our school buses. This information comes from a CDC order on 2/25/22 that was clarified with our NCDHHS last week. Face masks are OPTIONAL on our school buses.

PROM 2022:

This year’s 2022 “Evening under the Stars” prom will take place on Friday, April 15th from 6:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. This event will be open to our Juniors and Seniors ONLY. Underclassmen in 9th or 10th grade may be invited by an upperclassman, but the Prom tickets will only be sold to Juniors/Seniors at CGS. There are requirements for bringing students from other schools. There is required documentation that students from other schools must have filled out prior to being approved to attend CGS’ Prom. This paperwork will be available when you purchase your Prom ticket. Prom tickets will be $25 and will be available for purchase on 3/28-4/8 in the cafeteria. Reminder that you MUST be academically eligible in order to attend Prom. Q3 grades will be reviewed and those ineligible will not be allowed to purchase a ticket.

Our CGS Prom Committee is looking for volunteers!! This opportunity is extended to current CGS Sophomores. If you are interested in helping plan, design, set up, and serve at this year’s CGS prom and you are a current CGS Sophomore, please see Mrs. Quimby or Mrs. Simpson for details! Please let them know if you’re interested in volunteering by March 18th.

Safety Reminder:

Parents and students, please do not PASS in the car rider lines. This is VERY dangerous and a safety concern for our CGS students, staff, and families. Please be patient as you’re dropping your student off in the mornings and picking them up in the afternoons. Please plan ahead to ensure that you have enough time in the morning to drop your student off safely without the need to “rush”.

Mid-Year Parent Survey:

Parents, your feedback is very valued at CGS! Please take a moment to complete our annual mid-year survey listed below. We use this information to improve and set our goals for the remainder of the current school year and put things in place for the next school year. This is an opportunity to shine a light on things that are working well as well as focus on things that could be better! Thank you for taking the time to fill this survey out. It will take approximately. 15 minutes to complete. The survey will close on Sunday, March 20th at midnight. Thank you!

Calendar for the 2022-2023 School Year- Amendment:

At the BOD meeting on 2/15/22, our Board of Directors approved an amended version of next year’s school academic calendar. Please make sure you REPLACE the older version on this calendar. This calendar will go into effect next school year. There were only a few subtle changes (updates to Teacher Workdays, added mental health days, backed up the first day of school to a Monday, and added in a workday before the new semester begins).
