Covid-19:

Please see the attached metrics for this past week. Please direct all Covid-19 related questions to our School’s Nurse, Ms. Corbett at angelacorbett@cgsnc.org or to our nurse’s assistant, Ms. Keller at amykeller@cgsnc.org.

BOD Meeting 2/15/22 Updates:

On Tuesday last week, our Board of Directors met and voted and approved the following policies and procedures in regards to Covid-19:

  • CGS will discontinue Close Contact Tracing
    • This means that CGS will not be sending students home to quarantine if they are identified as a close contact to a positive Covid-19 case. Students will be asked to quarantine if there is a positive Covid-19 case within their household. CGS will complete close contact tracing if a cluster seems to be forming from a specific area on campus.
  • CGS will now be implementing a 5 day quarantine policy vs. the current 10 day quarantine policy for positive Covid-19 cases or household quarantines.
  • CGS will be hosting a 2022 JR/SR prom this school year!! The date of this year’s prom will be on Friday, April 15th, 2022. More details will be coming soon! Please “save the date”!
  • CGS will be FACE MASK OPTIONAL effective Monday, February 28, 2022.
    • This applies to all faculty/staff/students/visitors on campus.
    • ALL BUS RIDERS MUST WEAR FACE MASKS WHILE ON TRANSIT TO OR FROM SCHOOL. (We are awaiting confirmation that this mandate is still in effect per the CDC order for public transit. IF face masks are not going to be required on the school bus, we will let you know ASAP. Please have your bus rider prepared to wear a face mask while on the school bus daily.)
  • Parents, please remind your students to be respectful of others and their choice or whether or not to wear a face mask to school. No student will be made to feel “uncomfortable” if they choose to wear a mask or decide not to wear a mask. It is absolutely student/parent preference at this current moment. Bullying will not be tolerated either way. Thank you for your help with this!

Make Up Picture Day:

  • Reminder that Make Up picture day for Spring Pictures will take place on March 4th.

Clubs:

CGS Clubs are actively in motion and working on community involvement projects! Some of our clubs are finally getting the opportunity to venture off-campus as Covid-19 numbers continue to decrease in our area.

Attached you will find some information regarding a new club specific to 8th-12th grade students, our CGS Diversity Club. If your student is interested in attending the club meeting, please see the email attachment for details!

Shout out to our CGS Student Council for all of their hard work from School of Choice Week! Shout out to our CGS Mentorship Club members as well for their mentoring and partnership work with our younger students that officially began last week!

GREAT leadership opportunities happening for our students at CGS!

Band Director Vacancy:

  • We are currently in the interviewing process for a new band director. We appreciate all of our band families and students for being patient during this time as we find the perfect replacement! Mr. Baker, our Assistant Principal will be continuing to work with our students and within our band program in the absence of  a band director. Mr. Baker will be assisting our students with the transition and keeping their skills sharp! Thank you for your patience during this time!

As a reminder, RESPECT for all student-athletes, coaches, officials, and others is EXPECTED at every game/tournament held through our Clover Garden School Athletics Program. Last Friday night, CGS hosted the high school basketball conference championship, and unfortunately, we had some very disappointing behavior exhibited by some of our fans. At no time, EVER do we “boo” or “jeer” negatively at other student-athletes when they are receiving awards. This is absolutely against ALL of our values at CGS. Our Mission, Vision, and Belief Statements at Clover Garden School include “producing successful citizens” and teaching our students “mutual respect, integrity, and honesty.” Those values were not exhibited during the girls’ award ceremony on Friday night. Coach Moyer and I were incredibly disappointed in the behavior that represented our school community during what should have been a prestigious moment for student-athletes from both schools. Coach Moyer and I will continue to work to reinstate our high-standing reputation among the conference teams and coaches but actions always speak louder than words. Parents and students, please remember the values that we hold at CGS and how important good sportsmanship is to our organization.

Thank you to all of our parents and students that came out and positively represented and supported CGS Athletics on Friday night. Your support is incredibly valued and appreciated!
