What a fantastic 1st week back for our CGS Grizzlies!! Last week was amazing! We had 98% of our students on campus consistently last week! 5th grade had 100% attendance for the week! Way to go 5th grade!  We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we worked through the “kinks” of K-12 being back in the building. Our students hit the ground running and did a great job jumping into instruction last week. Shout out to our teachers and the instruction they provided from bell to bell! We are looking forward to being on a normal routine this upcoming week with all students on campus from 8-3.

Covid-19

We are unsure of what this year will hold in regards to the Covid-19 pandemic, but we appreciate you keeping your student and other students/faculty and staff safe by keeping your student at home if they are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19. Our Health and Wellness Committee is watching the Delta variant closely and working hard with administration to ensure a continued safe return for our students this school year. Please remember that your activities and actions outside of school can positively or negatively affect our student population. Please continue to make safe and healthy choices outside of school so that we can all stay in school for in person learning this school year. Safety first.

College Information Nights:

Junior and Senior College Information Nights are coming up! If you have a junior or senior student, please plan on attending to learn more about the college admissions process, paying for college, pathways to college, and other Career Opportunities.  Seniors will meet on Monday, August 9 at 6 in the Cafeteria, and Juniors will meet on Monday, August 16 at 6 in the Cafeteria. We will let you know if these sessions will be available via Zoom as well.

Power School:

All student Rapid Identity passwords have been reset to Clover 2021 as of 7/31/2021 1:40 pm. Your student may change their password but this generic password is so that all students can get into their accounts. Parents, we will also be opening up Power School for you to access the Parent Portal as well. In the meantime, you can access your student’s progress via Canvas.

Afternoon Car Rider Line:

Please put a piece of white paper or poster board in your dashboard of your car with your student’s first and last name written in dark black ink and your student’s grade level and homeroom teacher. This helps expedite the afternoon car rider line process when our line callers can quickly see who you’re picking up at a quick glance through your windshield.

Technology:

We are working on our technology process and procedures to help make this year a success for your student. Thank you for your patience as we work through this process. Our technology team is on campus twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please email our techsupport@cgsnc.org email address if you have technology issues that need to be addressed. Many of you have asked me about allowing personal laptops on campus. We are looking into this option and will be in touch if and when this option becomes available. We are working hard to ensure your student has what they need to be successful when on campus. Thank you for your patience!

Tardies/Dress Code:

We will begin marking tardies this week. Last week, we showed some grace in regards to the tardy policy. Tardies will be enforced this week. Please plan accordingly. If you get to school at 8, you’re late. Please make sure your student is dropped off in enough time to get to their classrooms by 8:00 A.M. Dress Code will also be enforced this week. Please review the handbook standard of dress located in the Parent’s Corner of Canvas to ensure your student is wearing the appropriate standard of dress.
