Recently our Varsity Boys Tennis Team competed in the Singles and Doubles Tennis Conference Tournament.  For the first time in CGS Men’s Tennis history, we had athletes move into the semi-finals. Students that represented CGS were:

Michael Paylor – Singles Semi Finals

Will Oldham and Blake Foley – Doubles Semi Finals

At the Semi-Finals Tournament, Michael Paylor became the first-ever CGS Men’s Tennis Regional Qualifier! He won both of his singles matches which allowed him to move on to the NCHSAA Regional Tennis Tournament at Riverbirch Tennis Center. In the regional quarterfinals, Michael played well but lost to a number one seed. His athletic skill and hard work took him farther than any of our past Grizzly Tennis players! Way to go Michael! He was voted All-Conference and finished fifth overall in our conference.

We also would like to CONGRATULATE Will Oldham and Blake Foley on an awesome match at the Doubles Semi-Finals! They lost to a very tough doubles team 5-8. 

The Varsity Boys Tennis team also tied for 3rd place during the regular season!

Way to go to all of our Tennis Student Athletes! This is a young program at CGS but we have already seen excellent growth! We are excited to see what next season brings!
