We have a lot to do in the next two weeks before our February Academic Break. Please make sure that your students are working hard to stay on top of their assignments and are engaged in their instruction daily. Every video, every assignment, and every conference MATTERS. Please make sure that your student is participating in their classes to ensure they are getting the content they need to be successful for the remainder of this school year.

Progress Report Quarter 3:

  • Progress Reports for Quarter 3 will be available on Monday, February 8th from the normal distribution times of 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. Any progress reports not picked up will be mailed home.

Letter of Intent:

  • The letter of intent is due for your student by Friday, February 12th. We extended this deadline due to the delay of the distribution of MS/HS report cards. Thank you to those of you that have already returned your child’s letter to secure their enrollment at CGS next year. If you haven’t received your child’s letter, and were not able to pick up their report card, be on the lookout for that information that was mailed out last week.

Report Card Audit:

  • Our Report Card Committee is currently auditing our Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 report cards for all of our elementary students. Once this process has been completed as we did for Middle/High School report cards, we will share any updates with you if it directly impacted your student.

K-2 Car Rider Line:

  • K-2 Families, you have done a FANTASTIC job at helping us make our arrival and dismissal lines run as smoothly and safely as possible. Due to your preparedness in the morning and afternoon, we have successfully cut our arrival and dismissal times in ½! Thank you for your continued diligence in making our process effective.
  • Beginning tomorrow, 2/1, if your student arrives after 8:00 A.M., you will be instructed to park in the visitor’s parking spaces in the front of the building and you will have to sign your student in as they will be considered TARDY. Please plan accordingly.

Yearbook Pictures:

  • K-11th Grade Pictures will be taking place on campus this week on Friday, 2/5. Please see the attached schedule for when your student will be needed on campus for their pictures. (K-2 on campus students will be taking their photos first thing in the morning, your child’s teacher has their schedule)
  • ALL of our REMOTE students in K-2 are scheduled to come in on Feb. 10th from 1 – 4pm for yearbook photos. We are working on sign ups/scheduling options and your child’s teacher will share this information with you when made available.
  • February 10, 2021 8-12pm: Seniors will take their tux and drape photos. Be on the lookout for an email from your senior advisors or Ms. Peel for your scheduled time to be on campus for your photos.
  • Yearbooks are now available for order.  Please visit Strawbridge to place your order.
  • If you have any questions, please contact our Yearbook Supervisor at abigailpeel@cgsnc.org

Testing:

  • Please see the updated testing schedule attached. Testing continues this week! Please make sure that you can make plans for your student to attend on-campus testing. This is vital to your student’s success and for our school to accurately assist your student in their educational journey this school year. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to help us evaluate where your student is academically and how to assist them this school year. If you have any questions about testing, please reach out to our testing coordinator, Ms. Robyn at robyncox@cgsnc.org

Athletics:

  • Parents and Student-Athletes,

The CGS Athletic Department is going to begin the process for signing up to try-out Spring Sports. Due to COVID-19, this process will be much different than in the past. We are asking our CGS community to be patient and understanding as we embark on a very different year. There will be many different guidelines and protocols we will need to follow. We will need to communicate, be open to last minute changes and understand that everything we do has to keep our student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff members, and families safe at all times.

Please keep in mind when signing up to try-out, you MUST be eligible to try-out. Below is the CGS quarter grade policy, NC DPI and NCHSAA Semester Grade Policy AND CGS/NC DPI/NCHSAA Attendance Policy

1. Academics – In order to be eligible to participate in athletics, the student-athlete must pass at least 2 block classes and 2 period classes during the last quarter completed prior to the period of participation per Clover Garden School policy AND pass the equivalent of 3 full block classes during the preceding semester (Quarter 1 and Quarter 2) per the NCHSAA policy for high school and the DPI policy for middle school.

2. Attendance – It is a policy of Clover Garden that every student-athlete attend school. Student-athletes must not miss 10 or more days in a semester or they will be ineligible for the next semester. If a student-athlete misses 10 or more days they may appeal their absences by filling out the Athletic Attendance Appeal Form. Medical documentation is needed to be eligible for an Athletic Attendance Appeal.

It is our current plan to begin Varsity Girls Soccer, Varsity Softball and Varsity Boys Tennis Monday, March 1; MS Girls Soccer, MS Softball, MS Baseball and MS Co-Ed Golf on Monday, March 15; and Varsity Baseball and Varsity Girls Tennis on Monday, April 12.

Mandatory Student-Athlete Spring Sports Try-out form – In order to get the process moving, we are requiring anyone in middle school or high school who plans on trying out for a spring sport to complete this form no later than Monday, February 8, 2021. You will not be permitted to try-out if the form has not been submitted by the due date.
