his is an exciting week! We are officially welcoming back our Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Students on campus for in-person learning. Our Board of Directors and faculty/staff have been working extremely hard to ensure the safe re-admittance of our youngest students. We will be working hard this week to ensure our students are safely able to return to campus and are very appreciative of our K-2 parents for helping us enforce and follow the safety precautions that are in place for the safety of our children and faculty/staff during our current pandemic.

K-2 Families, you will receive a “reminder” email before Tuesday regarding expectations for your students’ return this week and a review of the schedule to help your student prepare for coming on campus.

3rd-5th Grade Families, you will receive a survey on Monday, 1/18 with information to help you and your student prepare for our re-entry plan for our 3rd-5th grade students.

MS/HS Families, more information will be provided to you within the next few weeks regarding re-entry plans.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:

CGS Faculty/Staff will be available and visible during arrival and dismissal to ensure students enter and exit through the correct doors safely to help minimize the potential “contact” between mass groups of students at one time.

Arrival:

On Tuesday, 1/19 and Wednesday, 1/20, Kindergarten students will use Building 1 Front Door entrance for arrival. Parents, please park in a designated visitor’s spot in our front circle from 7:30 A.M. until 8:00 A.M. Focus Group Students will use the Building 2 entrance for arrival. This is the entrance with the glass doors at the front of the school- enter the building through the Burch Bridge Road Entrance and stay to the left.

Beginning on Thursday, 1/21, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Students will use the Kindergarten entrance for arrival after being dropped off in the car rider line. Focus Group Students will resume using the Building 1 Front Door entrance for arrival.

Parents of K-2 students that also have students in other grade levels attending Focus Groups, you will be asked to “drive around” to unload your student at the appropriate drop off location in the mornings. The only students being allowed to drop off in the “Hug and Go” car rider line side will be students in Grades K-2 on their designated arrival days.

Dismissal:

At dismissal, only K-2 students will be able to be picked up from the “Hug and Go” car rider line. All other students from focus groups will be dismissed as per normal routine through the Building 3 back door entrance. Parents, you will be asked to “drive around” if you’re picking up students that aren’t in K-2.

Testing Schedule:

Attached is the most current Testing Schedule for our students. Please review the attached schedule for the times/dates that your student needs to be on campus for their assessments. This year’s ACT is scheduled to take place on February 23rd on CGS’ campus for all Juniors. If you have any questions, please contact our testing coordinator, Ms. Robyn at robyncox@cgsnc.org.
