There are only 2 weeks left until our holiday break and the end of Quarter 2! Please make sure that your student is preparing for their midterms/end of course exams if they have them. This year will be different for CGS because many of our courses (blocks) will end in December and a new course will begin in January. We are working on preparing as much as possible for these transitions. Thank you for your patience with us as we ensure that all of our students are signed up for the courses they should be enrolled in. If you see any issues or concerns with your child’s schedule for the Spring semester, please email our school’s registrar at ninamiller@cgsnc.org. Our High School Leadership Team representative, Mrs. Reagan is also helping with our scheduling, so feel free to copy her in on the email as well at emilyreagan@cgsnc.org.

Report Card Distribution:

  • Report Card Distribution dates have been adjusted for the remainder of the year to allow for additional time for calculations/conversions to be accurate as we continue working between our two different platforms (PowerSchool and Canvas). The report card distribution date for Quarter 2’s report card is now scheduled for Friday, January 15th.

EXTENDED deadline for Athletics:

  • At this time, we are extending the deadline one last time for submitting the middle school girls basketball, varsity boys soccer and middle school boys soccer try-out forms to see if we can get a few more student-athletes to sign up to be willing to play.  Please try to reach out to your friends and families to see if you can get a few more to sign up. I am very hopeful so that is why we are extending this deadline.  Please see the numbers and the deadlines for each sport below. Come on CGS Grizzlies, help your teammates out!!! Contact Coach Moyer at kellymoyer@cgsnc.org if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Middle School Girls Basketball – We have 7 girls that have signed up. Yes, this is JUST enough girls to play. However, due to injuries, grades and low numbers, we are needing to have at least 10 girls sign up to have a team. We are not going to make a decision until Monday, December 7 about the status of a team.
  • Varsity Boys Soccer – We have 15 boys that signed up. However, 7 of those boys are also trying out for the varsity boys basketball team. We are not going to make a decision until Tuesday, January 5 about the status of a team.
  • MS Boys Soccer – We have 11 boys that signed up. Yes, this is JUST enough boys to play on the soccer field. However, due to injuries, grades and low numbers that we dealt with last year, we are needing to have at least 15 boys sign up to have a team. We are not going to make a decision until Tuesday, January 5 about the status of a team.

Holiday Cards for Service Members Collection:

  • Our CGS Student Council is collecting cards to send to our active service members serving in our country’s military. This is a fantastic campaign that adds a little “cheer” to those that are fighting to protect our freedom! If your student is interested in participating in this event, please see the attached flyer for information on how to make the card. There will be a collection box located on campus for these cards to be dropped off. The last day to collect these cards will be on December 18th. Thank you for your help in participating in this event!

SAVE THE DATE: Winter Wonderland Event

  • Our CGS Enrollment Committee is planning a SUPER FUN event that will take place on CGS’ campus on Friday, December 18th from 5:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. This event will be a Drive-Thru Parade!! Our faculty/staff will be decorating vehicles, trailers, and creating “floats” for our students to view as they travel throughout our campus. The entrance we will be using will be our Burch Bridge Road entrance. Please wear your ugliest Christmas sweater, deck out your vehicle in holiday gear and bring your holiday cheer! We are also collecting canned food for those that are less fortunate. If you have any canned goods that you can donate, please bring them with you. At the end of the Drive Thru parade, there will be a small gift awaiting your student! We hope to see you there! Please be on the lookout for a “registration” form so that we can gauge how many will be attending!

Final Exams/Mid-terms

  • The FINAL FINAL FINAL schedule is here for exams/finals/mid-terms. There were a few issues with course names that were corrected last week. There weren’t any major changes, just updates. Please make sure that you review the schedule attached to ensure your student is on campus at their designated times. Please email our testing coordinator, Ms. Robyn at robyncox@cgsnc.org for questions or concerns.

Material Distribution:

On Monday, December 7, 2020,  we will have another distribution of materials for students. If your student has any of the courses listed below, please make sure that you come by campus and pick up their materials. Please stay in your vehicle and we will bring the material out to you. Please enter from the Burch Bridge Road entrance and travel around the building to the front circle. We request that you wear your face mask while interacting with our faculty/staff and that you remain 6 feet apart to social distance. If you’ve been in contact with anyone that has tested positive for Covid-19 or if you have symptoms of Covid-19 yourself, please do not come on campus. Thank you for helping us keep our faculty/staff safe!
