For this edition of the Livin’ The CGS Teacher Life we are going to learn more about Mrs. Paylor. This young lady has been a member of the CGS family for six years now. This year you can find Mrs. Paylor teaching sixth grade ELA and Digital Literacy.

Tell us a little bit about you and your family.

“I have been married for twenty-two years. We have three boys. Troy, Kevin, and Michael. Our oldest, Troy is working on a Masters of Divinity. Our middle son, Kevin is a junior at Triad School of Ministry/SEU. Michael is a senior at CGS. In addition to our boys we have two kittens Xander and Tyson.”

Where did you attend college and what types of jobs have you held?

“I earned a BA in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12) from North Carolina A & T State University. I also have a two year diploma from National College in Computer Software Specialist. Before working in education I worked for a company where I built small motors for sleep apnea machines, ATMs, and hospital beds. Since coming to Clover Garden I have worked as an assistant and been a lead teacher in kindergarten and middle school.”

What are your favorite hobbies, books, foods, places to vacation, etc?

“I like to read and watch Hallmark movies. My favorite restaurant is Red Bowl.”

What drives you as an educator?

“I want to be that one person that will motivate an unmotivated student. I want to get on their level and get to know them and inspire them to be more than they could imagine. I am heartbroken when I see students fail. I am heartbroken when I see them unmotivated and not want to be at school. I am heartbroken when they are just there just to be counted in attendance. Every student deserves a fair shot or equal opportunity to be awesome. Regardless of what level they are on, they matter. They can succeed and I want them to believe they can. I want them to know I have their back and I care.”

What is your best advice for students?

“School may see boring or melancholy right now. If you stay focused, do your best, and sometimes go above and beyond your best, your possibilities will be endless when you graduate.”
