In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU for all that you are doing to help your child be successful this school year! This has not been an easy year and you’ve done a phenomenal job of supporting your student and supporting our school during this on-going pandemic. We hope to see the “light” at the end of the tunnel soon and are hopeful for our future! Please be diligent in protecting yourself and family during this holiday season.

Mission & Vision Statement:

Parents, please help us remind our students of our mission and vision statements at Clover Garden School. Our mission and vision statements are important to our core values. Please remind students when they are emailing their teachers or corresponding with their peers to be reminded of the “mutual respect” piece of our vision statement. It’s hard to pick up “tone” in emails, so please remind them to be respectful and courteous at all times. We are incredibly proud of our students’ resilience and perseverance during this time. These have been challenging times that have “tested” our character and our grizzlies are getting stronger by the minute. Thank you for helping us remind them of our core values.

Mission Statement: Clover Garden School, Inc. will foster community, generate enthusiasm, challenge students academically and produce successful citizens.

Vision Statement: The vision for Clover Garden School, Inc. is to create a community of empowered learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect, responsibility, and trust. Every student will be inspired and challenged to learn, grow, and accomplish academic, social, and career goals.

Extended Due Date for Athletic Try-Outs:

EXTENDED DUE DATE – MONDAY, November 30 – Mandatory Try-out Form for Middle School and High School Boys and Girls Basketball AND Varsity Boys Soccer and Middle School Boys Soccer

Parents and Student-Athletes,

We have extended the deadline for the try-out form to Monday, November 30. We are extending this deadline hoping we can get a more students to sign up. We are still short on numbers for the Middle School Girls Basketball Team, the Middle School Boys Soccer Team and the Varsity Boys Soccer Team. We hope that more will decide to sign up. Please forward the information to anyone that you think would consider signing up.  It could be the difference in having those teams or not this year.

The CGS Athletic Department is going to begin the process for signing up to try-out for Middle School and High School Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball and Boys Soccer. Please know that due to COVID-19, this process will be much different than in the past. We are asking our CGS community to be patient and understanding as we embark on a very different year. There will be many different guidelines and protocols we will need to follow. We will need to communicate, be open to last minute changes and understand that everything we do has to keep our student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff members, and families safe at all times.

Please keep in mind when signing up to try-out, you MUST be eligible to try-out. Below is the CGS quarter grade policy, NC DPI and NCHSAA Semester Grade Policy AND CGS/NC DPI/NCHSAA Attendance Policy.

1. Academics – In order to be eligible to participate in athletics, the student-athlete must pass at least 2 block classes and 2 period classes during the last quarter completed prior to the period of participation per Clover Garden School policy AND pass the equivalent of 3 full block classes during the preceding semester (Quarter 1 and Quarter 2) per the NCHSAA policy for high school and the DPI policy for middle school.

2. Attendance – It is a policy of Clover Garden that every student-athlete attend school. Student-athletes must not miss 10 or more days in a semester or they will be ineligible for the next semester. If a student-athlete misses 10 or more days they may appeal their absences by filling out the Athletic Attendance Appeal Form. Medical documentation is needed to be eligible for an Athletic Attendance Appeal.

It is our current plan to begin Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball on Monday, December 21, Middle School Basketball on Monday, January 4, Varsity Boys Soccer on Monday, January 11 and MS Boys Soccer on Monday, February 1. I will send out try-out forms for sports offered in the spring at a later date.
