Attendance:

Daily Attendance continues to be an issue at CGS during remote learning. STUDENTS MUST CHECK IN DAILY WITH THEIR HOMEROOM TEACHERS. This is not optional. This is part of our Clover Garden School attendance policy during remote learning. Students must contact their homeroom teacher via email, Canvas message, etc. Students will only be marked present for the day if the teacher has this email/message and proof that the student was working actively in Canvas that day. These are not our rules, but the state’s. Please help us enforce this at home with our students. It may be a cumbersome task but it should not be difficult. Attendance is vital for our school, especially since we are a charter school. It negatively impacts many things if our students aren’t accounted for. If you noticed absences on your student’s report card and you feel it is in error, you may reach out to our registrar, Mrs. Nina for assistance. You must be able to prove that your student was actively participating in instruction that day via Canvas in order to have the “absent” code reversed to reflect “present”.

Emergency Forms:

A while back, we had you fill out your child’s “Emergency Forms” via Canvas. To date, we are still missing a handful of forms for our student records. We will be contacting you directly if we haven’t received your forms, but in the meantime, please double check and see if you submitted those forms. There were about 7 “Quizzes” you had to take so that you could “acknowledge/sign off” on understanding what the forms meant. Please click How to: Access and Answer Emergency Forms in Canvas for a “How-to” video on completing this process. Thank you to all of you that have done this already for each of your students! (This was due back in August, so if you’ve already completed this task, please disregard this message) Photo Release: This is one of the required forms. We must know if you do not want your child’s picture/photo shown this school year. Please email Mrs. Moore directly if you do not give permission to share your student’s photo.

Canvas Observer Instructions:

Parent directions for becoming a “Canvas Observer” can be found on our school’s website. Please make sure that you are constantly monitoring your student’s academic progress throughout the school year. You can monitor your student’s progress and track their progress by viewing their assignments online in Canvas and making sure that they are turning everything in. You can also inquire with your child’s teacher on whether or not your child is participating in the daily instructional videos that our teachers are providing. By using Canvas analytics, our teachers can let you know if your child opened the video(s) and how long they actually watched the video. It’s a great tool in holding our student’s accountable for their work and progress in their courses this school year. Please reach out to our Canvas assistance team if you need help.

Trunk or Treat:

We are excited about our first “Trunk or Treat” Drive Thru event this Friday, 10/30 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. We can’t wait to see our kiddos! Please remember that you may not exit your vehicle at any time. We will be practicing social distancing of 6 feet and will be wearing face masks. If you or anyone in your family is experiencing any signs or symptoms of Covid-19, please do not come on campus. We are looking forward to this event!! If you plan to attend, please fill out this quick registration survey (no longer accepting registrations).  This will ensure that we have PLENTY of yummy snacks for all that are attending. Thank you!

Quarter 2 Video Tips and Information:

Based on Teacher Feedback to the Canvas Committee for Quarter 1, Mrs. Reagan and the Canvas Committee have compiled a helpful video of tricks, tips and information for parents and students for Quarter 2.  Please take some time today and watch the CGS QUARTER 2 CANVAS VIDEO.  This video can also be found on the CGS website in the Blog posts and Canvas Recourses for Families.
