Sarah Chapman

This morning Sarah Chapman, the 2020 Glover Garden School Salutatorian, steps into the Senior Spotlight. This young lady started her academic journey as a kindergartener at Clover Garden. Her spunky personality and tenacious work ethic have made her a vibrant member of the Clover Garden family.

During her high school years, Sarah participated in BETA Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, Envirothon, FFA, Jr. Civitan, DREAM Team, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, and 4-H. Sarah also volunteered with the Special Olympics, was a member of the Griers Church Youth Group, participated in the PALs and Teacher Cadet programs, and Tech Team. She was also recognized with a Grizzly Hero Award, chosen to be an Arlington Wreath Presenter and Clover Garden Junior Marshal. In addition to these clubs and activities, Sarah also played varsity volleyball and softball. During her senior year, she was voted as a Homecoming representative.

This fall Sarah will begin studies at North Carolina State University where she will pursue a degree in Crop and Soil Science and a minor in Horticulture.

When asked what she thought the legacy of the Class of 2020 will be she replied, “As the Class of 2020 we probably will be remembered for many things, some better than others, but always just a good group of kids. We have enjoyed making memories with our peers of all ages. We shall go down as the class of quarantine, no Senior Pep Rally, no yearbook signing, no last day of school, but we will always cherish the relationships, people, and places we have been as a family. This year may not have ended how we planned, but we still are blessed to be CGS alumni!”

As Sarah reflected back on her favorite Clover Garden memory she stated, “There is no way I could pick just one memory to be my favorite. I can truly say that I have been blessed to be surrounded by some great friends and mentors who have truly impacted who I am today. Some of the highlights throughout my time at Clover Garden include field trips with Mr. Kistler, spending time with my current and past teammates and coaches, joking with Moyer and Weis and of course, being Mrs. Wilson’s protege!”

After looking back over her years at Clover Garden Sarah wanted to thank several people that have made an impact on her life. She remarked,

“To pick just four people to thank and cherish for their help and guidance along my journey thus far is almost impossible. I have had many great mentors and leaders in my life, who have all set great examples and provided me with a helping hand whenever I needed it.

I would first like to thank my family, all of them. Some days I think about moving far away and cutting off all contact, but no matter what happens they have my back and I love them all dearly.

My next shoutout goes to Mrs. Lisa Wilson! Where do I even begin? This lady right here has been with me since birth, literally. Her guidance, leadership, and knowledge have given me academic nourishment, confidence, and loads of laughs throughout the years to say the least!

I would like to also thank Mrs. Koehler. Together we have tackled everything from laptops returned in garbage bags, power failures, teacher mess-ups, screen setups that are WAY too big, and several absolute technological catastrophes. We both served our sentence, and now we are finally finished!

My utmost thanks go out to Ms. Moyer, Mr. Kistler, Mr. Weis, Ms. Robyn, Mr. Cheek, and all the others who have put up with me for the past 13 years, thank you!”

Sarah as you strike out on this new chapter of your life your Clover Garden family is very proud of the young lady you are, the accomplishments you have made and we are confident that great things await you in the future. As you become a member of the Wolfpack never forget that your Grizzly family stands behind you.
