Today we are taking a quick look at what working from is like for one of our marvelous EC teachers, Mrs. Melanie Newton.

Q. What does your typical distance teaching day look like? How have you had to adapt to teaching virtually? 

A. From 9-12, I conduct zoom calls with my students; 12-1 eat lunch and help my kids with their work; 1-3 work on posting lessons, checking work and answering emails; in the evening in between settling the kids down and cooking dinner-I do paperwork for upcoming meetings.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge during the quarantine and time of distance learning? 

A. My biggest challenge is finding a balance between my workload, making sure my student’s needs are met, my kids at home education, being a mother, being a wife-all in the same setting for 24 hours 7 days a week.

Q. What do you miss most about traditional school?

A. I really miss my routine, structure, seeing my students.

Q. Prior to COVID-10 what was your favorite memory from the CGS 2019-2020 school year? 

A. Watching the smiles and interactions at our Bike Safety Rally for the elementary kiddos

Q. What do you wear while teaching…be honest.

A. I typically wear a t-shirt and lounge comfy skirt-no shoes.
