Welcome back to the second installment of our #workfromhomeWednesday series. Today we are looking in on one of our awesome third-grade teachers, Mrs. Long.

Take a look at Mrs. Long’s Outdoor Office

Q. What does your typical distance teaching day look like? How have you had to adapt to teaching virtually? *

A. Wake up at 8:00 AM and have coffee and breakfast. Feed Grayson breakfast and start him on his schoolwork. Log on to email and Class Dojo at 9:00 AM. The day varies with checking classwork and giving feedback on Class Dojo and returning parent emails. About twice a week I record myself teaching the passage for the day and upload to Dojo. Every day there is a staff meeting at 3:00 PM, on Tuesdays, I Zoom with my co-workers in grades 3-5 at 1:00 PM, and my 3rd graders at 7:00 PM.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge during the quarantine and time of distance learning? *

A. Balancing homeschooling my 7 and 5 year old while also trying to teach and be available for my students and parents.

Q. What do you miss most about traditional school?

A. Seeing my kids face to face, giving hugs and hearing personal stories about their life!

Q. Prior to COVID-10 what was your favorite memory from the CGS 2019-2020 school year? *

A. Making balloon floats after learning about the history of the Macy’s Day parade. This really showed the creativity of these kids!!

Q. What do you wear while teaching…be honest?

A. T-shirts and yoga pants LOL!
