Good Afternoon Grizzly Families,

First of all, we want to extend our thankfulness to all of you for your patience and support during this time of uncertainty throughout not only our community but around our globe as well. We are committed to our students and will continue to support them in every way possible.

Currently, CGS is working on a “Distance and Remote Learning” program for all of our students at CGS. This process takes time to complete and “iron out” logistical details so in the meantime, we would like to share some resources with you that you can use if interested to help give your students some “educational direction” during these next few weeks. Teachers are here for guidance and to answer any questions your student may have as they practice previously learned skills at home independently. Our teachers will have “office hours” virtually from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Monday through Friday through March 27, 2020. Once our Distance and Remote Learning program is ready, our teachers will provide your students with instructional lessons, etc. to help them continue to be successful at CGS. We will keep you updated on CGS’ next steps in advancing our learning opportunities for all of our students.

All of our CGS students that are currently enrolled in an online NCVPS (North Carolina Virtual Public School) course are currently still expected to communicate with their online instructors for guidance and instruction. All students currently enrolled in a course through ACC (Alamance Community College) will now be transitioning to distance learning online beginning on March 23, 2020. Please email your instructor for guidance and instruction.

Please use this document as a guide to various activities available that your child can do at home to keep skills fresh. This is a live document that will be added to as more free resources are found and made available. If you need help with finding resources or are interested in specific areas that your child needs help in please reach out to your child’s teacher(s).

Be sure to check out this set of free resources via GoogleDocs.

Also, don’t discount the value of family board games!

  • The Game of Life and Monopoly practice adding, subtracting, and budgeting.
  • Banana Grams is a great way to practice vocabulary and spelling.
  • Apples to Apples reviews adjectives and nouns.
  • Clue uses context clues to solve the mystery.

Lastly, we are collecting data to support the development of our Distance and Remote Learning program and need some information from all of you. Please fill out this form at your earliest convenience. CGS Digital Access Survey.

If you need to visit campus, please reach out to the front office to “make an appointment” prior to your visit. Thank you for helping us be as preventative as possible against the spread of COVID-19.

As always, thanks for all that you do,

Mrs. Vereyken & Mrs. Moore
